Wiltshire Council is consulting on developing proposals for an exciting future for Salisbury, which they are calling the Salisbury Central Area Framework. This consultation will inform the development proposals for the city centre and are asking for your feedback on what you’d like the city centre to look like in the future.
When completed, the Salisbury Central Area Framework will set out a strategy that will be deliverable and will bring positive change to create a more vibrant city centre. As part of this, they want to ensure that the traditional aspects of heritage, green space and community are enhanced and encouraged. The Salisbury Central Area Framework will build upon previous consultations and bring together many different projects and initiatives under one single document. This will form an important part of the evidence base to inform the emerging Wiltshire Local Plan Review and Salisbury Neighbourhood Plan.

Defibrillator Training
The defibrillator that has been installed in the telephone kiosk in Firs Rd can be used by anyone without training, under the guidance of the 999 emergency operator. However, the Community Heartbeat Trust does run short information and training sessions in conjunction with the local ambulance service to inform the community and to create awareness of the issues surrounding treating a patient in the community. It is not a formal classroom course but designed to answer questions, give basic instruction, be interactive and create confidence.
The Parish Council would like to run such a training session but need to gauge the level of interest within Firsdown. The training session is likely to be an evening or weekend event. If you are interested in taking part, please use the “contact us” link on the website to register your interest and state whether you would prefer an evening or weekend session.
Local Policing
The attachment from the Alderbury Rural Beat provides an update on local policing issues. The crime summary shows that much of the reported crime in South Wiltshire is opportune, and simple measures such as not leaving valuables on show in parked cars, and keeping garden tools and machinery in locked sheds, will hopefully act as a deterrent.

Contractors working on behalf of Virgin Media have started to install new infrastructure in Firsdown. The timetable of work is below. Work takes place in approximately 100 yard sections along the pavement on one side of the road, before continuing on the opposite side. Each 100-yard section takes approximately 3 days. Day 1 – diamond saw cutting of pavement surface, day 2 – excavation of a trench, duct install, and backfill, day 3 – reinstatement of tarmac surface.
Inevitably there will be dust and noise associated with these works. Access to driveways will be maintained with bridging plates across uncompleted work. Residents are asked to park their cars clear of the work sections by 0800 each morning.
